Health Insurance

As of now, Sandia Dermatology is only credentialed with Medicare. This means for patients with straight Medicare or Medicare Plus Secondary, we are able to submit claims on your behalf. For patients with Medicare Advantage plans or Medicare Plus Medicaid secondary, we are unable to submit to your insurance, and our practice functions as a direct pay office.

For those with commercial insurance, you can check with your insurer if they reimburse you for seeing out-of-network physicians. On request, we can provide a super bill, a breakdown of diagnoses, codes, and fees, for you to submit to them.

As many common dermatologic procedures and all cosmetic dermatologic procedures are not covered by insurance, this ultimately may not affect your cost of care. Furthermore, with high deductible plans, patients often end up paying for so-called covered services anyway. The hope with this model is that you will have greater access to care when you need it.
